Amplification of the scattering cross section due to non - trivial topology of the spacetime

چکیده
In refs. [1, 2] it was demonstrated that the total cross section of the scattering of two light particles (zero modes of the Kaluza-Klein tower) in the six-dimensional λφ 4 model differs significantly from the cross section of the same process in the conventional λφ 4 theory in four space-time dimensions even for the energies below the threshold of the first heavy particle. Here the analytical structure of the cross section in the same model with torus compactification for arbitrary radii of the two-dimensional torus is studied. Further amplification of the total cross section due to interaction of the scalar field with constant background Abelian gauge potential in the space of extra dimensions is shown.

Covariant path integrals and black holes
The thermal nature of the propagator in a collapsed black-hole spacetime is shown to follow from the non-trivial topology of the configuration space in tortoise coordinates by using the path integral formalism. The path integral (PI) formalism is useful to calculate propagators in configuration spaces (CS) endowed with a non-trivial topology, such as in curved spacetimes. Moreover, even if the ...
متن کاملIsogeometric Topology Optimization of Continuum Structures using an Evolutionary Algorithm
Topology optimization has been an interesting area of research in recent years. The main focus of this paper is to use an evolutionary swarm intelligence algorithm to perform Isogeometric Topology optimization of continuum structures. A two-dimensional plate is analyzed statically and the nodal displacements are calculated. The nodal displacements using Isogeometric analysis are found to be ...

Scattering of 15N ions with the energy of Elab = 23 MeV on the CH2(Au) target is investigated. Elastic scattering of these ions in the angular range of 7°-19° was measured by employing the silicon strip detector, “LEDA”. Using the measured scattering data, deviation of ion beam, number of incident ions on the target and differential cross sections of the 12C(15N, 15N)12C elastic scattering in ...
متن کاملSea Surfaces Scattering by Multi-Order Small-Slope Approximation: a Monte-Carlo and Analytical Comparison
L-band electromagnetic scattering from two-dimensional random rough sea surfaces are calculated by first- and second-order Small-Slope Approximation (SSA1, 2) methods. Both analytical and numerical computations are utilized to calculate incoherent normalized radar cross-section (NRCS) in mono- and bi-static cases. For evaluating inverse Fourier transform, inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) i...
متن کاملTesting causality violation on spacetimes with closed timelike curves
Generalized quantum mechanics is used to examine a simple two-particle scattering experiment in which there is a bounded region of closed timelike curves (CTCs) in the experiment’s future. The transitional probability is shown to depend on the existence and distribution of the CTCs. The effect is therefore acausal, since the CTCs are in the experiment’s causal future. The effect is due to the n...
